Wendy Whitson. 1956 - 2021.
October 25, 2022Join NorthLight Studios and The River Arts District, Asheville, North Carolina
in celebrating the life of Wendy Whitson. Artist. Activist. Mentor. Friend. With Wendy's love for art, artists, and Asheville she joined others with this passion. She was an important force in the development of The Asheville River Arts District. It has become a thriving community of working artists, galleries, retail businesses and restaurants recognized nationally. On October 25, International Artists Day, we celebrate Wendy's contribution, artists everywhere and activists that champion the creative life. Your donation toward the purchase of the sculpture pictured here, "Fa Sol" by artist David Sheldon, will allow us to memorialize extraordinary lives of service and the continued vision and work in The River Arts District.

Wendy Whitson
PAINTINGS AND FINE ART PRINTS
"My goal is to convey the essence of a landscape, while eliminating much of its detail; similar to that first impression, or the large shapes you see when your eyes
are half open. I consider my work atmospheric-transitional. Influences for my work are primarily from impressionism, the tonalist movement and abstract expressionism."
Wendy was a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Fine Art. She worked in the fields of graphic design and photography for many years before coming full circle to painting.
